Five tankers carrying petrol and diesel have docked at Apapa and Tincan Island seaports in Lagos, bringing fresh supplies of petroleum products amid ongoing worries about the stability of the country’s fuel availability.
The vessels delivered a combined 95,000 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), arriving between March 27 and March 29, 2026.
Among the ships, the Hudson delivered 22,000 tonnes of diesel at the Apapa New Oil Jetty, while Leste brought in another 20,000 tonnes of diesel at the Bulk Oil Plant terminal. At Tincan Island Port, the Savanna and Kobe unloaded petrol and diesel, and Kingis was scheduled to discharge petrol at Apapa.
The arrivals follow the Federal Government’s recent decision to lift restrictions on fuel imports, granting new licences for petrol importation in response to supply pressures linked to global disruptions.
Industry sources indicate that with these new shipments, more tankers are expected to return to activity around Lagos ports after several weeks of reduced movement in the fuel logistics chain.
