INEC Warns ADC Over Convention Plans, Threatens Sanctions for Disregarding Court Order

Tensions have escalated within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following fresh moves by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce compliance with a subsisting court order affecting the party’s leadership structure.

INEC has insisted that any action taken outside the framework of the court’s directive will not be acknowledged, warning that internal party decisions made in violation of the ruling could be deemed invalid. The commission reaffirmed its commitment to operating strictly within the bounds of the law.

Amid the growing crisis, rival factions within the ADC continue to push conflicting agendas, with some leaders pressing ahead with plans for internal gatherings despite the legal uncertainty. This has raised concerns about further fragmentation within the party ahead of future political activities.

Political observers say the ongoing dispute could weaken the ADC’s standing if not resolved quickly, as the party struggles to present a united front. INEC has called on all stakeholders to exercise restraint and allow the judicial process to determine the rightful leadership.
