American rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus, popularly known as Offset, has been hospitalised after a shooting incident outside a casino in South Florida.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, near Miami. According to reports, the shooting happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. in the facility’s valet area.
A spokesperson for the 34-year-old artist confirmed that he sustained gunshot injuries but is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.
“We can confirm Offset was shot and is receiving medical care. He is stable and under close monitoring,” the statement read.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported the rapper to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. Authorities say his injuries are not life-threatening.
The Seminole Police Department also confirmed that the situation was quickly contained, with no ongoing threat to the public. Two individuals have been detained in connection with the incident, although their identities and the motive behind the shooting have not yet been disclosed.
Despite the incident, the casino remained open, with officials assuring visitors of their safety.
Offset, a founding member of the hip-hop trio Migos alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff, rose to fame for helping popularise the “triplet flow” style in modern trap music.
The rapper has also been in the spotlight for his personal life, including his high-profile relationship with fellow artist Cardi B, with whom he shares three children.
The shooting has sparked concern across the music industry, especially coming years after the death of Takeoff, who was killed in a 2022 shooting in Houston.
Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to express relief over Offset’s condition and to wish him a speedy recovery, as investigations into the incident continue.
