The people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency have declared their support for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, insisting that there is “no vacancy” in the state’s governorship seat.
The declaration was made during a civic reception held in honour of the governor, where community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents gathered to commend his administration’s performance.
Speaking at the event, Archbishop Raphael Opoko assured Governor Otti of the constituency’s unwavering support, urging him to remain focused despite criticism from opposition parties.
He described the reception as a celebration of purposeful leadership and noted that the governor had demonstrated vision, integrity, and transparency within a short time in office.
Opoko highlighted key achievements of the administration, including improvements in road infrastructure, investments in healthcare and education, and the recruitment of over 5,000 teachers. He also pointed to ongoing developments such as the upgrade of primary healthcare centres, progress at Amachara Medical Centre, and major infrastructure projects like the Omenuko Bridge.
According to him, Aba and Umuahia are witnessing visible transformation, adding that the state is making significant progress across various sectors.
Chairman of the planning committee, Kingsley Anosike, said the event was organised by residents across political divides to express appreciation to the governor. He noted that Umuahia is emerging as one of the fastest-developing state capitals in the country.
Also speaking, the Mayor of Umuahia South, Hon. Chinedu Enweruzo, expressed confidence in Governor Otti’s chances in the 2027 election, citing widespread support for his administration.

Other speakers, including Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi and High Chief Victor Ikeji, praised the administration’s strides in education and healthcare, describing governance in the state as being on a positive trajectory.
In his remarks, Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to people-oriented governance, stressing that leadership must prioritise service over personal interest. He assured residents that all ongoing projects would be completed.
The event was attended by top dignitaries, including the governor’s wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti; Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa; members of the National and State Assemblies; and other stakeholders.
