The Abia State Government has commenced preparations for the second edition of the Abia International Trade Fair with the inauguration of a 23-member committee chaired by Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu.
Speaking during the inauguration at the Deputy Governor’s Conference Hall, Umuahia, Emetu charged members to infuse innovation, dedication, and fresh strategies to surpass the achievements of the maiden edition. He emphasized the need to leverage lessons from the past fair to deliver a more inclusive and impactful event.
For transparency and accountability, all financial transactions for the trade fair will be centrally managed by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce. The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce will serve as Secretary of the Committee, while the Vice Presidents of the Aba and Umuahia Chambers of Commerce will act as Co-Vice Chairmen.
The Deputy Governor underscored the importance of strategic publicity, urging the committee to forge stronger partnerships with traditional media and digital influencers. He also directed them to announce a date for the fair promptly, stressing that early inclusion in the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) calendar would boost sponsorship and corporate participation.
Special Advisers to the Governor on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nwaka Inem, and on Investment Promotion, Chief Greene Amankwe, expressed optimism that the 2025 edition would be more impactful, noting the critical role of collaboration between government and the private sector.
