Trump Threatens Lawsuit After Epstein Joke at Grammy Awards

US President Donald Trump has threatened to take legal action against comedian Trevor Noah following a joke made during the 68th Grammy Awards that linked him to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The controversy erupted as Noah presented the Song of the Year award, which was won by Billie Eilish for Wildflower. While congratulating the singer, Noah joked about Trump’s past comments on wanting to acquire Greenland, quipping that the president wanted the territory “almost as much as he wants Greenland.”

He then added another remark suggesting Trump needed “a new island” to socialise on after Epstein’s death — a statement that drew laughter from the audience.

Noah, who announced this was his final year hosting the Grammys after six appearances, has generally avoided political jokes in previous editions of the ceremony.

Trump responded angrily on his Truth Social platform, describing the awards show as “virtually unwatchable” and calling Noah’s comments “false and defamatory.”

“I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close,” Trump wrote, insisting that he had never before been accused of such involvement.

The president went further to label Noah a “total loser” and said his lawyers would be instructed to pursue legal action over the remarks.

Trump has previously acknowledged knowing Epstein socially, noting they moved in similar circles in Florida and New York, but maintains he later cut ties with him. He has also opposed the release of court documents linked to Epstein.

Last week, millions of pages of newly released documents referenced several high-profile figures, including Trump, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and Britain’s Prince Andrew.

The incident has added to ongoing debates over political commentary in entertainment events and the continuing fallout from Epstein-related revelations.
