The immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has extended warm felicitations to all fathers across Abia State and Nigeria at large as the world marks Father’s Day.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, Rt. Hon. Orji described fatherhood as a sacred responsibility that requires wisdom, patience, and deep commitment to the well-being of the family and the growth of society. He emphasized that fathers are pillars of strength who sacrifice daily to ensure their children are nurtured, protected, and guided on the right path.

“Fatherhood goes beyond biological responsibility,” he said. “It is about leadership, discipline, and love. Today, we celebrate the men who stand tall in homes, communities, and the nation — shaping lives through their values, courage, and consistent sacrifices.”

Rt. Hon. Orji also called on society to continue supporting fathers through policies and initiatives that encourage work-life balance, economic empowerment, and mentorship opportunities for younger men growing into the role of fatherhood.

He concluded by praying for God’s grace upon all fathers, especially those facing difficult circumstances, and urged everyone to honour and appreciate the roles their fathers have played in their lives.

“As we celebrate today, may every father be reminded of his worth, and may we as a people continue to build a society where responsible fatherhood is recognized and rewarded,” he said.
