Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), have issued a stern ultimatum to the Nigeria Police following the controversial death of Femi Oladele, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of two undergraduates. The students are demanding that the police produce Oladele’s body and ensure a transparent investigation into the killings.

Oladele, who was reportedly the landlord of the victims, was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command at a hotel in Akungba-Akoko. He, alongside two other suspects—identified as Kola and Michael—was taken into custody in connection with the abduction, rape, and murder of 25-year-old Abah John Friday and his 19-year-old friend, Okah Andrel Eloho.

According to reports, Oladele allegedly ordered the attack on the students through a group of cultists, claiming they had disrespected him. After his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the crime but soon fell ill and died under police supervision in the hospital. A police source confirmed that he became ill shortly after his arrest and passed away while receiving treatment.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed Oladele’s death and revealed that the decomposed remains of Okah had been recovered, while efforts were ongoing to locate Abah’s body. The suspects were also said to have withdrawn ₦800,000 from Abah’s account after the murder.

In response to Oladele’s death, the AAUA Students’ Union issued a strongly worded statement demanding the immediate release of the suspect’s body and a full disclosure of investigation findings. The union’s leadership—President Salami Akeem, General Secretary Bakare Jamiu Abiodun, and PRO Ajidagba Mosadoluwa—emphasized the need for justice to be both done and seen to be done.

“The Students’ Union demands transparency and fairness. We insist the police produce the body of the deceased suspect and make public all investigation outcomes,” the statement read.

The student leaders warned that failure to meet their demands within the stipulated timeframe would trigger a large-scale protest involving the entire student body and other concerned Nigerian students. They stressed the protest would be peaceful but resolute, aimed at holding authorities accountable.

They further directed their appeal to the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, urging the Command to act with professionalism and integrity in handling the case.

“The welfare and dignity of AAUA students must be protected. We will not rest until justice is served,” the union stated.
