The semi-final fixtures for the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have been officially confirmed following the conclusion of the quarter-final matches on Saturday.
Ghana’s Black Queens advanced after a tense goalless draw with Algeria that was decided by penalties. Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan was the standout performer, making crucial saves from Marine Dafeur and Inès Belloumou to secure their place in the final four.
Ghana will now face tournament hosts Morocco in the first semi-final on Wednesday.
In the second semi-final, defending champions South Africa will lock horns with arch-rivals Nigeria’s Super Falcons. Bayana Bayana also progressed via penalties after their quarter-final encounter with Senegal ended goalless after extra time.
Both fixtures are expected to deliver thrilling encounters as the four teams battle for a place in the WAFCON 2024 final.
