The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election and Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in the 2026 governorship race.
This endorsement was announced in a communiqué released following a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House. The statement, made public on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, emphasized unity within the PDP and addressed recent political controversies in the state.
The party revealed that Governor Adeleke’s decision to remain in the PDP was influenced by hostility from some All Progressives Congress (APC) members, who openly criticized him on national television and social media over rumors of his possible defection. According to the communiqué, many PDP members were also not in favor of such a move.
Signed by Governor Adeleke, former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, PDP State Chairman Sunday Bisi, Senator Lere Oyewumi, and 24 other key stakeholders, the communiqué reaffirmed Adeleke’s endorsement as the party’s candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The document further stated, “The PDP in Osun State acknowledges that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hails ancestrally from the state, making him a son of Osun. In this regard, we officially adopt and endorse him for re-election in 2027.”
It also directed all PDP structures across the state to disseminate the resolutions and urged Governor Adeleke to remain focused on implementing his administration’s Five-Point Agenda.
