The embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Dr. Aliyu Bello, has been taken to the Federal High Court in Lafia by members of his ward executive committee following his suspension.

Dr. Bello was earlier suspended by the chairman of his Gayam ward, Ibrahim Illiyasu, and other executives over alleged persistent anti-party activities. In response, the ward executives approached the court, seeking an order to bar Bello from presenting himself as a member and state chairman of the APC pending further legal proceedings.

During Tuesday’s session at the Federal High Court 1 in Lafia, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Isa Hassan Nalaraba, requested an ex parte order to restrain Bello from suspending the ward chairman and executives who had earlier disciplined him.

However, Justice Mubolaji Olajiwan ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to grant such an ex parte order before hearing the substantive suit. The judge cautioned all parties involved not to take any actions that could undermine the proceedings and urged legal counsel to properly advise their clients.

Speaking to journalists after the sitting, Barrister Nalaraba confirmed that the motion filed was to prevent Bello from continuing to act as APC chairman after his suspension at the ward level.

The case has been adjourned to September 25 for hearing.
