Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has described the appointment of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the new party chairman as a strategic and timely decision for the ruling party.
In a personally signed statement on Thursday, Ganduje congratulated Yilwatda, expressing full confidence in his leadership qualities and capacity to advance the party’s objectives.
“The emergence of Prof. Yilwatda is very strategic, especially at this point in the life of our great party,” Ganduje stated. “I have no doubt in his capacity, intellect, maturity, and administrative competence to move the APC forward.”
He also praised the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and key stakeholders for conducting a transparent and consensus-based selection process.
Ganduje, who recently stepped down from the role citing health reasons, urged his successor to build upon the foundation laid by past party leaders.
“I urge the new chairman to build on the legacies I left behind, just as I did with those of my predecessor,” he added.
The former Kano State governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their leadership and support during the party’s transition, describing their roles as “statesmanlike.”
He called on all party organs including the National Working Committee, state chapters, and the youth and women wings to rally around the new chairman.
“Unity, discipline, and loyalty must remain the cornerstone of our party,” Ganduje emphasized. “I assure Prof. Yilwatda of my unflinching support and brotherly solidarity.”
He also urged APC governors, lawmakers, and members nationwide to fully support Yilwatda in building a united and inclusive party that delivers on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As I bow out with a sense of fulfillment, I remain available to offer my experience whenever called upon. I pray for wisdom, strength, and courage for Prof. Yilwatda as he leads our party forward,” Ganduje concluded.
Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, a former university professor and governorship candidate in Plateau State, officially assumed office following his ratification by the party’s NEC earlier this week.
