The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in the upcoming November 8, 2025, Anambra State election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has strongly condemned the killing of businessman Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as “Fish Magnet.”
Onyekere was reportedly abducted during a late-night attack at his residence in Ezinifite, Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area, and was later killed by his abductors.
In a statement released on Thursday, Ifemeludike urged the state government and relevant security agencies to launch an urgent, transparent investigation into the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice. She described Onyekere’s murder as a grim reflection of the worsening security situation across Anambra communities.
“The African Action Congress and the Chioma4Governor Campaign Team strongly condemn this brutal killing. Ifesinachi Onyekere was not just an entrepreneur and a vibrant social media voice—he was a symbol of the resilient Anambra spirit. We are devastated by his murder and demand full accountability,” the statement read.
She further criticized Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for failing in its constitutional duty to protect lives and property, stating that the government has become increasingly disconnected from the people it was elected to serve.
“This is not just another statistic. We must not normalize the loss of bright young individuals like Ifesinachi. The state must act decisively. We demand justice—not only for Fish Magnet but for every Anambra resident who lives in constant fear,” Ifemeludike stated.
She concluded by calling for urgent reforms and responsive governance that prioritizes human life and community safety.
