Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has pledged the full support of his administration to Ultimum Limited, a multimillion-dollar beverage manufacturing company located at the Osisioma Industrial Cluster in Aba.
Governor Otti gave the assurance during a meeting at Government House with a delegation from Ultimum Limited led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Austin Ufomba, an Abia-born investor. The delegation briefed the Governor on the completion of the first phase of their beverage factory situated along Adaelu Road in Osisioma, a short distance from Geometric Power.
Commending the company’s bold investment move, Governor Otti directed the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otumchere, to begin immediate work on the road leading to the factory and prepare documentation for its full reconstruction.
“If you’re investing a hundred million dollars in Osisioma, that’s a big deal for us. Thank you for choosing to begin this in Abia—it shows that charity truly begins at home,” the Governor said.
Responding to the company’s appeal for road extension beyond Geometric Power, Governor Otti added: “That’s a no-brainer. We stopped at Geometric because we didn’t see any further activity then. Now that this has emerged, we’ll proceed.”
The Governor emphasized that improving infrastructure in the area would help reduce production costs and strengthen the state’s appeal to investors. He reaffirmed his readiness to commission the factory once it is fully ready for launch.
On security, Governor Otti reassured the investors of Abia’s robust security architecture and his administration’s zero tolerance for criminality. “We are securing every part of the state, and we’re committed to keeping it safe for investors and citizens alike,” he stated.
He praised Ultimum Limited for beginning production without waiting for government incentives and for choosing to establish the plant in Abia. Describing their goal to serve the African market as “timely and visionary,” the Governor noted that Africa’s 1.55 billion population presents immense opportunities for growth.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Austin Ufomba said the visit was to strengthen the company’s partnership with the state government and to inform the Governor of the successful completion of the factory’s first phase.
“Interestingly, I’m from Osisioma. We’re bringing investment back home. We came with a team of investors and partners to inform the Governor that production has begun,” Ufomba said.
He praised the improved business environment under Governor Otti’s leadership, describing Abia as an investment haven. According to him, the new factory will stimulate job creation, community development, increased internally generated revenue (IGR), and infrastructure improvement—all aligning with the Governor’s vision for an industrialized Abia.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, and other members of the Governor’s cabinet.
