NCC, NiRA Take Down MovieBox.ng Over Online Piracy

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), in partnership with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), has suspended MovieBox.ng, a popular website known for illegally streaming movies, music, and live sports.

In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja, the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ijeoma Egbunike, announced that the suspension took effect on July 20, 2025, following confirmation by the NCC Director-General, Dr. John Asein.

Dr. Asein said the move is part of the Commission’s intensified crackdown on online piracy, receiving strong support from content creators across the film, music, and broadcast industries.
