Hon Sir Dr Collins Obi ( AGU JESUS) Chairman ZONE9 Police Command PCRC (2), the President of Presidents Aba Provincial Joint Council of Knights Anglican Communion comprising 9 Dioceses has declared that Abia State is experiencing a historic transformation under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti. From security to economic revival, Dr. Obi says the state is witnessing progress “unparalleled in its history.”
In an exclusive interview in Umuahia, Dr. Obi lauded the governor’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, bold security strategies, and forward-thinking support for SMEs and hospitality businesses.
“Governor Otti’s leadership has rekindled hope in Abia,” Dr. Obi said. “We’re seeing genuine synergy between the government, the police, and the people — a benchmark for effective governance.”
As Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for Zone 9, Dr. Obi praised the renewed public trust in law enforcement, attributing it to enhanced intelligence coordination, community policing, and rapid response systems developed through close collaboration between the governor and AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, who oversees security in Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi States.
“This is a new era of peace and safety. AIG Uzuegbu’s professionalism is exceptional, and the PCRC is proud to partner with such a capable officer,” he added.
Economic Renaissance: Hospitality and SME Growth on the Rise
Dr. Obi also commended the administration’s hospitality sector boost, citing new investments in tourism infrastructure and a welcoming climate for hotels, restaurants, and international visitors.
On the SME front, he highlighted access to micro-credit, capacity-building programs, and a government-backed SME support fund as key tools empowering young entrepreneurs and driving job creation.
“This is the most business-friendly environment Abia has seen in decades. There’s an entrepreneurial revival — the government is truly prioritizing inclusive growth,” he said.
Otti’s Legacy Draws Comparison to Late Mbakwe
Reflecting on the scale of the transformation, Dr. Obi drew a historic comparison:
“It’s as though the spirit of Chief Sam Mbakwe, the legendary former Governor of old Imo State, has returned in Governor Otti. Abians are once again proud of their government.”
Once plagued by infrastructural decay and insecurity, Abia is emerging as a model of progressive governance in southeastern Nigeria. Civil society voices like Dr. Obi’s are reinforcing this narrative, urging replication across other states.
Dr. Obi concluded by extending his commendation to AIG Uzuegbu and CP Danladi Isa, noting their effective leadership and synergy with the state government, along with other state commissioners contributing to the region’s growing safety and stability.
