The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has intensified disaster response efforts across three states, issuing flood alerts and delivering relief to victims of recent emergencies.

In Adamawa State, the Head of NEMA’s Yola Operations Office, Mr. Ladan Ayuba, alongside officials from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), inspected the Bakin Kogi River in Yola North Local Government Area on Sunday, August 10, following reports of rising water levels.

The agency subsequently placed the river on “alert level,” warning of a heightened risk of flooding to nearby communities. Ayuba urged residents in riverine areas to remain vigilant and be prepared to relocate to safer ground if necessary.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. The safety of our communities is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to take precautionary measures,” he said, reaffirming NEMA’s readiness to work with ADSEMA, the Marine Police, and other agencies to safeguard lives and property.

In Kaduna State, NEMA’s Kaduna Operations Office distributed relief materials to victims of recent armed banditry and a fire disaster in Kaduna North Local Government Area. The intervention, approved by NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, was initiated following reports from the Honourable Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Bello Ahmad El-Rufai.

Leading the exercise on August 9, the Head of NEMA’s Kaduna Operations Office, Malam Suleiman Muhammad, conveyed the Federal Government’s sympathy and prayed against a recurrence of such tragedies. The relief package included maize, rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and salt.

Similarly, on August 8, NEMA’s Ibadan Operations Office provided relief to victims of a rainstorm in four Local Government Areas of Osun State — Oboku, Oriade, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West — within the Ife-Ijesa Senatorial District.

Flagging off the distribution, Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, Head of the Ibadan Operations Office, said the items were approved to cushion the impact of the disaster and reinforce the Federal Government’s support in times of crisis. The event, witnessed by community leaders including Chief Fadipe Femi, representing Senator Francis Adenigba Fadah, ended with expressions of gratitude from beneficiaries.

NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening early warning systems, providing timely interventions, and collaborating with stakeholders to mitigate the effects of disasters across the country.

If you want, I can also condense this into a shorter, punchier news format that’s more suited for radio or quick web updates. That would make it sharper and more impactful for busy readers.
