The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has alleged that the woman accusing him of sexual misconduct and financial indebtedness has deleted several videos and social media posts containing the claims.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, Umahi said Mrs. TracyNither Ohiri removed the materials from her TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook accounts within the last 24 hours. According to him, a review of the platforms shows that posts previously used to accuse and criticise the minister are no longer available.
Mrs. Ohiri had accused the minister of owing her over ₦200 million for services allegedly rendered years ago. She also claimed that Umahi made inappropriate advances toward her when she demanded payment and further alleged that he directed authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to have her arrested and detained in an attempt to silence her.
Responding to the development, the minister’s aide said the removal of the posts followed public scrutiny of what he described as inconsistencies and discrepancies in her claims, including conflicting timelines and varying figures.
“This sudden deletion raises serious concerns about the intent behind the allegations that were circulated for years,” the statement read. “Faced with contradictions in her narrative, she appears to have opted for deletion rather than clarification.”
The media office urged Nigerians to independently verify the status of Mrs. Ohiri’s social media pages, insisting that all records relating to the matter remain intact and available for review. It maintained that allegations must be proven and that the burden of proof lies with the accuser.
Umahi, the statement added, remains focused on his responsibilities and on delivering infrastructure projects in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
