A total of 1,911,141 Nigerians submitted applications for the 2025 Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recruitment before the portal officially closed on Monday, August 11.
The recruitment process was affected by several technical issues, including repeated crashes of the application portal, leading to multiple delays. Initially scheduled to commence on June 26, the exercise was first shifted to July 14 and later to July 21. Consequently, the application deadline, which was originally set for August 4, was extended by a week to accommodate the disruptions.
Despite these challenges, data from the CDCFIB website revealed that states like Kogi (116,162), Kaduna (114,536), and Benue (110,565) had the highest number of applicants. On the other hand, Bayelsa (11,669) and Lagos (14,216) recorded the fewest entries. The five states with the highest number of applicants—Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Kano, and Niger—contributed a combined total of 510,174 applications, while the five states with the least participation contributed just 99,658 applications in total.
Following the closure of the portal, CDCFIB, in a statement posted on its official X account, expressed gratitude to applicants and announced that shortlisted candidates will soon be contacted with further instructions. Applicants were advised to monitor their emails, text messages, and the board’s official website and social media platforms for updates in the coming weeks.
