Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Wednesday joined a large crowd of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters to launch the party’s campaign ahead of the Shanono/Bagwai State Constituency by-election scheduled for next Saturday.
The campaign kickoff, held in Shanono, attracted key APC figures including the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Engr. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Minister of Housing Development, Abdullahi Atta, among others. During the event, the party’s flag was formally presented to its candidate, Ahmad Kadamu.
In his address, Senator Barau urged constituents to vote for Kadamu, stressing that an APC victory would strengthen the presence of the Federal Government in the area and pave the way for greater development. He also emphasized that winning the by-election would signal broader electoral success for the APC in the 2027 gubernatorial and presidential elections.
Engr. Kabir Bichi echoed this optimism, expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the upcoming House of Assembly polls. He highlighted the achievements of the APC-led federal government, noting that President Bola Tinubu recently approved a N10 billion road construction project linking Bichi, Bagwai/Shanono to Gwarzo — a key infrastructural boost for the area.
Also speaking, Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, expressed confidence in the party’s victory and called on security agencies to ensure a peaceful, fair, and transparent election, free from vote buying and violence.
The by-election was necessitated by the passing of Hon. Halilu Kundila, who represented the Shanono/Bagwai constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly before his death after a prolonged illness.
