Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele has praised four of his teammates for their vital contributions in the club’s stunning comeback victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night in Italy. The thrilling encounter saw Tottenham take a comfortable 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, which they maintained until the 84th minute.
However, PSG staged a dramatic late resurgence, with substitutes Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos leveling the scoreline in the closing minutes of regular time. The match, which ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, was eventually decided by a penalty shootout, where the French champions triumphed 4-3 to claim the trophy.
Reflecting on the dramatic turnaround, Dembele spoke to PSG TV and emphasized the importance of the substitutions made by manager Luis Enrique. He specifically credited Goncalo Ramos, Ibrahim Mbaye, Lee Kang-in, and Fabian Ruiz for turning the tide in PSG’s favor during the final stretch of the game.
Dembele also lauded the PSG supporters for their unwavering presence and passion throughout the tense match. “Even when we were down 2-0, they never stopped cheering,” he said. “They’re our twelfth man, and their energy helped lift us. It was an incredible night and a reminder that in football, anything is possible.”
