The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has revealed that more than 34,000 federal civil servants now have official government email addresses, a development she described as a major step toward secure and efficient communication within government.

Speaking at the Quarterly Stakeholders and Citizens Engagement Forum in Abuja on Friday, Walson-Jack noted that the initiative is part of the ongoing digitalisation of the civil service. She added that Nigerians are beginning to regain confidence in the civil service, stressing the need to sustain this renewed trust.

On human resource management and payroll integrity, she explained that challenges in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) are being addressed in collaboration with the Federal Civil Service Commission, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, and other agencies. According to her, these efforts are already yielding results by saving public funds, eliminating waste and fraud, and ensuring that genuine workers are paid promptly.

Highlighting ongoing reforms, Walson-Jack said the Office of the Head of the Civil Service is also migrating its records and services to the OneGov cloud platform as part of wider digital transformation efforts aimed at building a smarter, more transparent government.
