The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially kicked off the physical phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2025 general elections. This stage began on Monday, August 25, 2025, across all states in Nigeria, following an earlier online pre-registration process that started on August 18. The commission made this announcement through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
INEC clarified that the in-person registration will hold on weekdays—Monday through Friday—from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. Eligible Nigerians are encouraged to visit designated INEC offices at the state or local government level to complete their registration. The commission emphasized that physical registration is essential for individuals who started the process online and now need to finalize it in person.
The categories of people eligible for the registration include first-time voters who have turned 18, individuals needing to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and those wishing to transfer their registration to a different location. Also included are voters who need to correct or update personal details such as names or addresses.
INEC also advised Nigerians who completed the initial online pre-registration to promptly visit the nearest INEC state or local government office to complete their application. To assist the public, the commission has published a comprehensive list of registration centres across the country on its official website.
