Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s frequent international trips, describing them as strategic moves to boost Nigeria’s economic growth and diplomatic influence.
Kalu, in a statement, emphasized that the President’s travels go beyond ceremonial functions, noting that they are geared toward attracting foreign investments and building stronger partnerships beneficial to Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
“Our dear President Bola Tinubu has done well on his international engagements for the benefit of Nigeria. He cannot only be in Abuja to do the work. President Tinubu is on track with his travels, and I support it,” Kalu said.
The former governor also called on Tinubu to appoint ambassadors to various countries, stressing that such appointments would help consolidate the diplomatic and economic gains from the President’s global engagements.
“It’s also time the President appoints ambassadors so that the country can reap the full benefits of the President’s diplomatic and economic engagements in several countries,” he added.
President Tinubu is currently in Brazil, following his participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan, where he met with African leaders, development partners, and global stakeholders.
