The Abia State Government has donated three Hilux operational vehicles to two federal security agencies to strengthen their fight against crime and enhance service delivery in the state.

Two vehicles were handed over to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Joseph Owoputi, while one was presented to the Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Abia State Command, Mrs. Justina Owe.

Presenting the vehicles at Government House, Umuahia, on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Navy Commander MacDonald Uba (Rtd.), represented by the General Manager of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Col. Chidi Kalu Ukoha, charged the agencies to put the vehicles to effective use in carrying out their mandates.

He emphasized that Governor Alex Otti’s administration prioritizes security as a catalyst for development, stressing that no meaningful socio-economic activity can thrive in an unsafe environment. Uba added that the donation was part of the government’s commitment to supporting federal security agencies in reducing crime and safeguarding lives and property in the state.

In her remarks, Mrs. Owe, who recently assumed duty as Controller of Immigration in Abia State, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Otti, describing the donation as timely and motivating. She assured that the service would intensify its operations and deliver beyond expectations.

Also speaking, Mr. Owoputi of the NDLEA lauded the Governor for fulfilling his promise to provide operational vehicles, noting that the gesture would strengthen the agency’s efforts in tackling drug abuse and related crimes in the state.

Governor Otti had, during Owoputi’s recent courtesy visit, pledged to assist the agency with operational vehicles to aid its work.
