Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye, has assured Nigerians that the team will give their all to secure maximum points when they face Rwanda’s Amavubi in a must-win World Cup qualifying clash. Nigeria must overcome Adel Amrouche’s side to keep their hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States alive.
The three-time African champions are set to host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday. This comes after the Super Eagles were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home by Zimbabwe’s Warriors in their previous qualifying match.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Adeleye stressed that the team cannot afford another slip-up. “We are ready for Rwanda; they must fall. Everybody is prepared for the game. We know what’s at stake, and we can’t afford to waste this opportunity,” he said in Uyo.
The goalkeeper also expressed delight at returning to the national team setup after missing out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad. He noted that he is determined to contribute positively as the Super Eagles battle for a place in the expanded 2026 World Cup.
