The 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) in Abuja kicked off with several corporate teams claiming strong victories in volleyball and table tennis on Monday.

In volleyball, the NNPC squad outplayed Oando in straight sets, while TotalEnergies secured a 2‑0 win over PTI, setting an exciting tone for the week‑long tournament. Other early winners in men’s volleyball included NUPRC, NMDPRA, and Seplat, each showing determination and skill.

On the table tennis courts, Aradel and NLNG emerged victorious in their opening matches, demonstrating impressive technique and focus.

The games, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, brought together about 1,200 athletes from 15 companies across 13 disciplines, including scrabble, chess, squash, and badminton.

Officials praised the competitive spirit and preparation shown by participants, especially among women players, and emphasized that all matches are being professionally officiated to ensure fairness.

NOGIG 2026 aims to promote fitness, networking, and camaraderie within the oil and gas industry, with business leaders and sports figures present at the opening.
