Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a fresh warning to truck operators using its logo without authorisation, vowing to take legal action against offenders.
The company expressed concern that despite repeated cautions, some truck owners unaffiliated with the Dangote Group continue to brand their vehicles with its identity, sometimes for personal or undisclosed gain.
According to DIL, the practice has led to reputational damage, with vehicles carrying the logo being linked to accidents and incidents wrongly attributed to the conglomerate.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will step up monitoring efforts and pursue decisive legal action against those misusing our brand identity,” the company said in a statement.
Dangote further condemned the spread of misinformation linking its trucks to accidents, warning the public and media to verify facts before publication. It described such reports as attempts by mischief makers to exploit tragedies for malicious or financial purposes.
The company explained that it operates one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets, with more than 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, including over 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. On average, 6,000 of these vehicles are deployed daily in its logistics operations, supporting over 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
DIL added that it works closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory agencies to ensure safety and compliance across its operations. The company said its fleet undergoes continuous monitoring, internal audits, and training to align with global best practices.
