Delayed Deployment Leaves Nearly 60 CBN Recruits in Limbo

Nearly 60 people who were offered positions at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2023 are yet to be deployed, leaving them frustrated and financially strained. The recruits, who completed exams, interviews, and medical checks, received appointment letters last year but have not been formally assigned to their roles.

Many of the affected individuals have reported setbacks, including missed career opportunities and struggles to cover basic living expenses after leaving previous jobs in anticipation of joining the CBN. The prolonged wait has also taken a toll on their mental well-being, with some describing the uncertainty as stressful and demotivating.

In September 2024, the recruits wrote to the CBN governor, highlighting the impact of the delays on their lives. Attempts to get a response from the bank’s media office have so far been unsuccessful, leaving the group still in limbo.
