The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Hundeyin succeeds Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was recently promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and redeployed as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Delta State Command. The Police Service Commission had earlier approved Adejobi’s promotion, with Force Headquarters describing his redeployment as part of routine administrative measures to strengthen operational leadership.
Adejobi’s tenure as Force PRO was notable for improving police visibility on social media, strengthening community trust, and enhancing transparency in public communication. He is now expected to apply his experience to tackle Delta State’s security challenges, including violent crimes, oil theft, and communal conflicts.
Introducing his successor, Adejobi described Hundeyin as a seasoned communicator with strong academic and professional credentials. Hundeyin holds a BA in English from Lagos State University, an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan, and a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Kaduna.
He is also an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
Hundeyin previously served as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command, Lagos; Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Abuja; and as part of Nigeria’s contingent to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan, in 2020. Until his latest appointment, he was the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson.
The Inspector-General tasked Hundeyin with strengthening police-public relations and sustaining public confidence in the Force.
