Nigeria’s table tennis star, Quadri Aruna, will lead the country’s campaign at the 2026 ITTF Africa Cup in Benghazi, Libya, this weekend.

Aruna will be part of the men’s singles lineup alongside Omotayo Olajide, aiming to bring the championship trophy back to Nigeria after strong performances in previous tournaments.

On the women’s side, Fatimo Bello and Ajoke Ojomu will represent Nigeria as they compete against top talent from across the continent.

The tournament, hosted in Libya for the first time, also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 ITTF World Cup. The event runs from February 7 to 9 at the Al Nasr Sports Club.

Defending champions, including Egypt’s Omar Assar and Hana Goda, are among the favourites, promising intense and exciting matchups. Aruna’s experience will be key as Nigeria seeks to reclaim its position at the top of African table tennis.
