It was a gathering of political heavyweights and dignitaries on Saturday as Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi, son of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, tied the knot with Anita Nwabueze in Abuja.

Among the prominent guests were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Also present were former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, African Democratic Party National Chairman Senator David Mark, and former Plateau State Governor Senator Solomon Lalong.

The solemnisation of holy matrimony took place at St. Gabriel Chaplaincy, Catholic Secretariat, officiated by Reverend Father Steve Dedua, former chaplain of the Rivers State House Parish.

In his sermon, Rev. Dedua urged the couple to be patient, prayerful, and to make God the foundation of their home. He cited global divorce statistics, noting Nigeria’s high ranking, but expressed confidence that the new couple would defy the trend.

The groom’s parents, Rotimi and Judith Amaechi, expressed joy and offered blessings to the couple. “My prayer is that they will find happiness, God’s love, and be blessed with many children,” Amaechi said. Judith added that their happiness remained her greatest wish.

The colourful event drew admiration from attendees, marking it as one of the most notable high-society weddings of the year.
