President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly retrofitted Michael Okpara Auditorium located within the Abia State Government House, Umuahia.
Represented by the Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, the President paid glowing tribute to the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Dr. Michael Okpara, describing him as a unifying leader who reintegrated the Southeast into national politics.
Tinubu urged the people of Abia to emulate Okpara’s style of politics anchored on service and unity. He expressed delight that the state was honoring Okpara’s legacy and commended Governor Alex Otti for embarking on people-oriented projects, including several of federal significance.
According to him, the important thing is not whether a project belongs to the state or the federation, but that it touches the lives of the people,”l, assuring that his administration has recognized the Southeast and reintegrated the region into national affairs.
Umahi further disclosed that President Tinubu would personally visit Abia State in December 2025.

Earlier in his address, Governor Otti noted that the once-dilapidated auditorium was rehabilitated by his administration beginning in late 2023. He described the refurbished edifice as a symbol of renewal and expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for honoring his invitation.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering life-changing projects that would improve the wellbeing of Abians.

Our correspondent reports that after the commissioning of Micheal Okpara Auditorium in Umuahi; the President commissioned Port Harcourt Road, Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road by East, Peoples Road at Ogbor-hill, Gabriel Nwosu Road and Nkoro Road in Osisioma, as well as commissioner Umuato Road along Abayi Road on Aba Owerri road.
