₦10m Up for Grabs as Delta Hosts 2nd Africa for Peace Sports Festival

The second edition of the Africa for Peace Sports Festival is set to kick off in Delta State on November 15, in celebration of the 2025 International Day for Tolerance, with a total prize pool of ₦10 million and several consolation prizes for participants.

A former Super Eagles player, Edema Fuludu, has been appointed Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the event.

According to a statement issued by the festival’s initiator and Chairman of the Delta State Mini Football Association, Ambassador Sheriff Mulade, the festival aims to promote peace through sports while providing a platform for talent discovery.

Mulade said the event will enable the Nigeria Mini Football Association’s scouting team to identify and recruit promising players for the national team ahead of future international competitions.

He announced that registration is now open, promising that the 2025 edition will deliver “an unforgettable experience.”

The festival will feature a wide range of events, including gym contests, Scrabble, snooker, table tennis, and mini football, while chess and fuss-football will be demonstration games. The mini football tournament will have two categories — ages 25–45 and 46 and above — with strict compliance to game rules.

“With about ₦10 million in prizes and several consolation rewards, this year’s Africa for Peace Sports Festival will be a memorable celebration of sportsmanship and unity,” Mulade stated.

In his remarks, Fuludu expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to ensure a successful and inclusive event, urging interested participants to reach out to Ogo Clarkson, Secretary of the Delta State Mini Football Association.

Meanwhile, Delta State recently hosted the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba from August 29 to September 6, 2025, featuring 6,382 athletes and officials from across the country competing in 37 sporting disciplines.

Lagos State emerged overall winner for the first time, followed by Delta and Edo States, in a competition that celebrated youth talent and national unity.
