The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has urged all eligible Abians to take full advantage of the ongoing nationwide voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Pastor Ajagba made the call at Okpuala Ngwa, headquarters of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting. He described the PVC as the most important tool for meaningful participation in the nation’s democratic process.

According to him, the PVC is not just a document but the power every citizen holds to determine the leadership and direction of the country through the ballot. He encouraged those who have attained voting age, misplaced their PVCs, or relocated to new areas to visit the nearest registration centres to register, update their details, or collect their cards.

Ajagba also appealed to community leaders, youth groups, faith-based organisations, and the media to intensify sensitization and mobilization efforts within their localities to ensure massive turnout in the registration exercise.

Speaking earlier, the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, emphasized that wide participation in the registration exercise would promote inclusiveness, fairness, and greater confidence in the electoral system. He also advocated the decentralization of registration points across local government areas, schools, and community centres to make the process more accessible to citizens.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa; Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr. Matthew Ekwuribe; Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Dr. Chris Enweremadu; and Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe, among others.
