Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement personally signed on Saturday, Omisore said his decision followed “deep reflection and wide consultations” with stakeholders across the state.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the statement read.
According to him, his formal declaration will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the APC State Secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
Omisore revealed that his campaign would be anchored on the theme “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” stressing his belief in the people’s ability to rebuild the state.
“I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission; it is a collective one,” he stated.
He urged party members and supporters to rally behind what he described as the Osun Rescue Mission 2026, aimed at revitalising the state’s development agenda.
Omisore, who represented Osun East Senatorial District between 2003 and 2011, has previously contested the governorship seat but was unsuccessful. His latest bid marks another major step in his long-standing political journey in Osun State.
