The Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy & Development (FENRAD), a leading non-governmental organization championing environmental justice and human rights in Nigeria, has reiterated its call for improved labour protection standards across civil society workspaces in the country.

FENRAD made this call while participating in a Labour Protection Research Dissemination Workshop held in Enugu, organized by the South Sahara Development Organization (SSDO).

As one of the key research partners in the study, FENRAD contributed to a national assessment aimed at promoting fair, dignified, and just working conditions for employees within Nigeria’s civil society sector. The research forms part of SSDO’s broader initiative to strengthen labour rights, welfare, and protection within the non-profit and development community.

The Enugu workshop provided a platform for stakeholders across civil society, government, and development agencies to discuss findings, share insights, and chart a collective path toward better workplace practices in the sector.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, Executive Director of FENRAD, commended SSDO for its leadership in championing labour protection in the non-profit space. He reaffirmed FENRAD’s commitment to sustaining advocacy for improved working conditions, emphasizing that protecting the rights of workers in the non-profit sector is essential for achieving social justice and sustainable development.

One of the key highlights of the programme was the proposal to establish a platform for continuous cross-learning and organizational development among civil society organizations (CSOs).
