Residents and business owners in Gombe State may experience irregular electricity supply over the next ten days as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commences maintenance work on its main transmission substation in the state.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the exercise—scheduled to run from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily—is part of the company’s routine preventive maintenance efforts aimed at enhancing power stability and improving the efficiency of the transmission network across the North-East region.

The operation will involve the shutdown of specific feeders and replacement of key control and protection panels, which may temporarily affect electricity distribution in parts of Gombe State. TCN, however, assured that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) would continue to receive bulk power during the exercise.

“To minimise inconvenience, load from the Shongo 33kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while that of Mallam Sidi will be moved to the Doma 33kV feeder,” the statement read.

Mbah emphasised that the exercise is critical to preventing system failures and ensuring long-term reliability of electricity supply. “Preventive maintenance is a vital aspect of our operations. We appeal for the understanding and cooperation of the public as we work to deliver improved and stable power to Gombe and its environs,” she added.
