Argentina and Morocco will face off in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup final after thrilling semi-final victories.
Argentina secured a 1–0 win over Colombia on Thursday at Estadio Nacional de Santiago, courtesy of Mateo Silvetti’s 74th-minute strike. The Albicelestes also benefited from a late red card that left Colombia a man down. Gianluca Prestianni’s clever play on the right set up Silvetti, who finished confidently from the center of the box. Despite Colombia’s late pressure, Argentina’s defense held firm.
The victory sends Argentina to their eighth U-20 final, where they will aim for a record seventh title.
Morocco made history by reaching their first-ever U-20 World Cup final, becoming only the third African nation after Ghana and Nigeria to do so. The Atlas Cubs advanced after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over France following a 1–1 draw at the Elías Figueroa Brande Stadium on Wednesday. Morocco initially took the lead in the 32nd minute via a penalty converted by Yassir Zabiri, which deflected off French defender Lisandru Olmeta. Lucas Michal equalized for France in the 59th minute, but the match remained deadlocked through extra time. Morocco edged France 6–5 on penalties, with successful kicks from Younes El Bahraoui, Ilias Boumassaoudi, Yassir Zabiri, Mohamed Hamony, Saad El Haddad, and Byar.
France and Colombia will contest the third-place play-off on Saturday, October 18.
