Tension is rising within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District following allegations of signature forgery in a communiqué purportedly supporting the zoning of the party’s 2026 governorship ticket to the district.
At least 40 youth leaders from five local government areas, Ola-Oluwa, Isokan, Ede North, Ede South, and Ayedire, have accused some party members of forging their signatures on the document.
Speaking to journalists, one of the aggrieved youth leaders, Alimi Bakare, denied endorsing the communiqué, insisting it did not represent the collective position of APC youths in the district.
> “We never signed any document supporting the zoning of the governorship ticket to Osun West. Many of the signatures were forged, and not all youth leaders attended the meeting,” Bakare alleged.
He further claimed that in Ede North, “a single person signed on behalf of all 10 youth leaders,” urging the party to prioritise competence over regional sentiment.
Supporting his position, Amos Amindiya from Ola-Oluwa, Raji Rafiu from Isokan, and Idris Aderibigbe alleged that some leaders were pressured into backing the zoning agenda instead of focusing on selecting the most qualified aspirant.
However, Osun West APC leader Imran Mojeed dismissed the allegations, insisting that the communiqué was duly signed by all attendees.
> “Everyone present at the meeting signed willingly. We even have video evidence to prove it,” he said.
Mojeed accused the dissenting youth leaders of attempting to destabilise the party for selfish reasons.
> “Those opposing us are only LCDA youth leaders, not representatives of the main councils. They tried to bribe others to withdraw their support, but our members refused,” he alleged.
He clarified that the communiqué merely reaffirmed an earlier appeal by the Osun West APC Senatorial Chairman, Gbenga Omolaoye, urging the party’s national leadership to consider zoning the governorship ticket to the district.
> “We did not endorse any individual candidate,” Mojeed added. “Our appeal is simply for fairness and recognition of Osun West’s capacity to produce competent leaders.”
The controversy comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its 2026 governorship primary, with internal divisions threatening to shape the outcome of the race.
