The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has provided clarification on the arrest and remand of singer Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, who is the brother of Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels.
According to the Command, Ojeogwu was arrested following a petition accusing him and three others of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
In a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command explained that Ojeogwu’s arrest was conducted in accordance with legal procedures.
She stated that after several police invitations were ignored, Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos on the strength of a court-issued warrant and subsequently transferred to Abuja for investigation.
“On October 28, 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition against Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu and three others. Following multiple unhonoured invitations, the suspect was lawfully apprehended in Lagos under a valid court warrant and conveyed to Abuja for further investigation,” Adeh said.
She further disclosed that investigations were completed, and Ojeogwu was charged to court on November 6, 2025, on offences including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft. The court ordered his remand pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
The incident sparked widespread reactions after actress Regina Daniels alleged that her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, was behind her brother’s arrest, accusing him of using his influence to intimidate her and her family.
Reports had earlier circulated that Sammy West was remanded at Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State by order of a Dutse Magistrate Court, allegedly without access to his family or legal counsel.
However, Adeh dismissed claims of political manipulation or bias, stressing that the police acted within the confines of the law.
“The FCT Command remains committed to professional policing, due process, and the rule of law,” she affirmed.
