The Alternative Bank has been recognised as the ‘Innovative Bank of the Year’ at the 7th African International Conference on Islamic Finance (AICIF), highlighting its dedication to delivering transformative and inclusive financial solutions across Africa.

The award ceremony, held recently at Eko Hotels in Lagos, acknowledged the bank’s efforts in promoting financial products and services based on non-interest principles, according to a statement released on Wednesday. AICIF has long served as a platform for thought leadership and professional excellence in African finance.

The awards celebrate individuals and organisations that demonstrate remarkable innovation, dedication, and excellence in advancing non-interest finance.

“This recognition confirms our belief that innovation and integrity can thrive together in banking,” said Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Executive Director (South) at The Alternative Bank. “It reflects the trust our clients place in us and our shared vision for a more inclusive and sustainable future.”

Prof. AbdulRazzaq Alaro, Chairman of the AICIF Award Panel, lauded the transparent selection process and commended the winners for their significant contributions to promoting interest-free financing in Africa.

Since its launch as a non-interest window in 2014 and its official banking licence in 2023, The Alternative Bank has stood out in Nigeria’s financial sector by integrating non-interest principles with advanced digital solutions. Its offerings, including the AltElite premium banking suite and a gold-based rewards system, are reshaping banking for a new generation of customers.

Alternative Bank remains committed to pioneering innovative solutions that empower clients and redefine the future of banking across the continent.
