President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to confront the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria, while improving social harmony and community trust across the nation.

Speaking during the Passing-Out Parade of Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, the President charged newly commissioned officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and readiness to defend the country when required. A total of 1,187 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) graduated from the academy.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu reaffirmed that his government remains committed to equipping the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies with the training, modern tools and resources necessary for effective operations.

He stated that the Police Academy remains crucial to building a law-enforcement system that maintains order while respecting human rights and dignity.

> “As you embark on this noble journey, remember that you are not just enforcers of the law, but guardians of our collective security and wellbeing,” Tinubu said.
“The nation relies on you to serve with honour, fairness and preparedness, even to the point of sacrifice where necessary.”

He added that the Federal Government intends to transform the academy into a world-class institution that produces highly trained, intellectually equipped and ethically grounded officers.

The President commended the academy’s leadership and personnel for their continuous efforts in preparing the next generation of officers with values aligned to accountability, honesty and professional conduct.

Earlier, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, disclosed that all graduating officers had earned Bachelor’s Degrees in various disciplines, having been judged worthy in both character and learning.

Established on March 15, 1998, the academy, initially operating from Kaduna and Challawa, Kano, has evolved into a full degree-awarding institution, now offering postgraduate programmes.

The event was attended by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, top military officers, senior government officials and members of the National Assembly, among others.
