Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has revealed that the Federal Government is giving urgent attention to the security challenges in Kano following recent bandit attacks in parts of the state. The governor confirmed that he briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the escalating situation and the impact on local communities.
According to Yusuf, President Tinubu “fully understood the gravity of the threat” and immediately directed a specialised security team to reinforce operations in vulnerable areas.
Worried by the rising incidents in Shanono, Tsanyawa, and Bagwai LGAs, the governor on Wednesday led a high-level delegation, including Brigade Commanders, the Commissioner of Police, and the Director of DSS, on an assessment tour of the affected communities.
Addressing residents during the visit, Yusuf stressed the importance of community-driven intelligence in preventing further attacks and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding all parts of the state.
He disclosed that the state government is making arrangements to boost logistics, mobility, and operational support for security agencies. This includes plans to deploy drones and other surveillance technologies to strengthen monitoring and rapid response along border areas between Kano and Katsina States.
“We are aware they have been attacking innocent communities, especially here in Tsanyawa and Shanono. Many lives were lost, and many were taken into the bush. By God’s grace, those kidnapped will be returned to their families,” the governor said.
