The Kano State Government has assured residents that the state remains safe, stable, and fully under control, despite recent reports suggesting rising insecurity.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf gave the assurance after a State Security Council meeting involving heads of security agencies. He said the government remains committed to sustaining peace, particularly in the affected areas of Shanono, Tsanyawa, and Bagwai LGAs, where banditry concerns have recently been raised.
Responding to circulating claims of an impending security breach, the governor dismissed the reports as baseless, stressing that there is no credible intelligence pointing to any imminent threat.
Yusuf condemned what he described as deliberate misinformation aimed at fueling fear and unrest, warning that those spreading falsehoods will face legal consequences.
He disclosed that the government is working closely with intelligence services, law enforcement agencies, and community structures to maintain vigilance and rapidly counter any emerging threats.
“Security formations have been briefed, strategically deployed, and are working round the clock to neutralise any potential breach of peace. Every part of Kano is under active surveillance supported by a robust security architecture,” the governor said.
The government urged residents to remain calm and responsible in their use of social media, cautioning against the spread of unverified information.
Yusuf further assured that his administration is strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and deploying advanced security tools to safeguard the state.
He reaffirmed that Kano remains safe, secure, and resilient, adding that no attempt to destabilise the state will succeed. Residents were encouraged to go about their normal activities without fear.
