Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to visit Osun State to collect his membership card of the Accord Party, following the recent defection of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, to the party.

Davido disclosed this on Tuesday via his social media platforms, stating that he would be at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo to formally receive the card.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card at Imole House, Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly,” the award-winning singer wrote, while tagging the governor.

The development comes amid major political realignments in Osun State after Governor Adeleke resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and officially joined the Accord Party. The governor announced his defection on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the party. He also declared his intention to seek re-election for a second term in 2026.

Adeleke explained that he joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after weeks of consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.

“I joined the Accord Party as a platform to seek re-election in 2026, after extensive consultations and deliberations,” the governor said. “Osun stakeholders and residents understand why we took this important decision. We aim to complete our delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, which have been widely acknowledged at home and abroad.”

He noted that his choice of the Accord Party was informed by its welfarist ideology, which aligns with his administration’s commitment to citizens’ welfare.

“I welcome our party leaders to the Osun State Government House. We are united in purpose and progress for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria,” Adeleke stated, stressing the need for unity and inclusive leadership ahead of the next election.

Describing the Accord Party as the platform for continuity, the governor expressed confidence in the support of the electorate.

“Osun voted for good governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. Accord is our party for victory,” he added.

Governor Adeleke had earlier announced his resignation from the PDP on December 1, citing persistent leadership crises at the party’s national level. In a statement shared on his Instagram page, he confirmed that his resignation letter was submitted on November 4, 2025, to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.

Davido had reacted to his uncle’s resignation by reposting the announcement with the caption, “Jeje…”.

The singer’s planned visit to Osun to collect his Accord Party membership card has further fueled public interest in the ongoing political developments in the state.
