Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq rolled out a hefty ₦644 billion appropriation bill for 2026, telling the State House of Assembly that the bulk of the money—about 66 %—will go to capital projects, while the rest covers recurrent spending. He stressed that the budget is built to tackle pressing needs across the state’s 16 LGAs.

The governor highlighted security as a top priority, earmarking more funds for modern equipment, operational vehicles and tech upgrades aimed at curbing kidnapping and other crimes. He said the extra spending will boost the state’s response capabilities and help restore confidence among residents.

Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi assured lawmakers will give the bill “in‑depth legislative scrutiny” to ensure it truly benefits Kwara’s people. He praised the governor’s focus on development and pledged the assembly’s cooperation in shaping a budget that drives growth and improves welfare.

The 2026 budget signals Kwara’s commitment to consolidating past gains while stepping up efforts to secure a safer, more prosperous future for its citizens.
