Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians for the overwhelming support she received following her recent ordeal with United Nigeria Airlines (UNA).
In a video shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Ogunmola thanked those who reached out through calls, messages and other forms of assistance after she publicly raised concerns about the incident.
“Thank you so much to everyone who reached out, sent messages, called and offered help. God bless you all. I am deeply, deeply grateful,” she said.
The actress also acknowledged the intervention of an individual she identified as Mr. Wale, alongside officials of the Ekiti State Government.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Wale. Thank you once again. I also appreciate the Ekiti State Government, the ADC, the driver and the security personnel. I am truly thankful,” she added.
Ogunmola further commended bloggers and media platforms that amplified her complaints, noting that their coverage helped draw public attention to the issue.
Reacting to the airline’s apology, the actress criticised what she described as poor communication, questioning how passengers could be issued tickets and boarding passes only for flights to be cancelled without adequate notice.
“They said they communicated properly, but how do you issue tickets and boarding passes and then tell people you are no longer flying?” she queried.
She also alleged that airline officials failed to inform her of the cancellation, even as they took photographs with her at the airport the following day.
Addressing critics who labelled her a “big baby,” Ogunmola said she does not enjoy unnecessary stress, adding that the attention generated by the incident was overwhelming.
The development follows United Nigeria Airlines’ apology on Thursday over the disruption of her Ekiti-bound flight, which left her stranded at the airport for more than 24 hours after repeated delays and eventual cancellation.
The Guardian had earlier reported that the actress called out the airline, alleging that the persistent postponements resulted in professional and financial losses. She disclosed that she had invested between ₦15 million and ₦20 million in preparations for her film project, TOC.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuke Uloka, attributed the cancellation to “unscheduled aircraft maintenance,” adding that affected passengers were informed via email and text messages.
The airline said Flight UN0623, scheduled for January 7, 2026, was disrupted due to maintenance issues, but was reintroduced on January 8, despite the Ekiti–Lagos route not being part of its regular schedule for the day.
United Nigeria Airlines stated that it complied fully with NCAA Consumer Protection Regulations and offered an unreserved apology to Ogunmola and other affected passengers, while reaffirming its commitment to safety, operational excellence and improved customer service.
