The Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has called on Abians to resist what he described as calculated moves by opposition parties aimed at destabilising the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Pastor Ajagba made the call on Saturday while addressing an enlarged meeting of his Ward 3 kinsmen at Umuezegu Community Primary School, Isiala Nsulu, in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, in the company of top government officials.
He warned that the opposition was determined to reverse the gains recorded by the present administration, accusing them of seeking to return Abia State to what he termed “political Egypt” after years of misrule.
Questioning the credibility of the opposition, Ajagba said those who failed to develop the state for 24 years now claim they can do better only because Governor Otti has laid a sustainable roadmap for development.
“Why is it now that the Governor has started building a sustainable future that they suddenly believe they can do better? For 24 years they could not fix Abia. What new ideas do they have to offer? They have expired. They want to take us back to Egypt, and we say no,” he declared.
The Chief of Staff noted that the Otti administration inherited a deeply decayed state but has within a short time achieved remarkable progress that had eluded previous governments.
According to him, Governor Otti deliberately assembled a competent team and came prepared to reverse decades of misrule in Abia State.
“The level of decay we met was unprecedented and could have discouraged a less-prepared leader. What they destroyed in 24 years, Governor Otti has fixed in just 24 months. He is on a divine rescue mission and nothing can stop it,” Ajagba said.
He thanked the people of Ward 3 in Isiala Nsulu for their continued support and assured them that the governor remains committed to delivering more dividends of democracy to Abians.
In his remarks, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, praised Governor Otti for his massive infrastructural development across Isiala Ngwa and other parts of the state.
He specifically commended the construction and rehabilitation of key roads, including the Ntigha–Nbawsi–Eziala, Nbawsi–Agburuike–Umuomaiukwu, Avo–Umuerim, and Okpuala Ngwa–Obikabia roads.
Onwusibe also applauded the administration’s interventions in health, education, security and transportation, noting that the connection of Isiala Ngwa communities to Geometrics Power has brought stable electricity, significantly improving the quality of life of residents.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti; Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday; and Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, said the Otti administration has embarked on massive road construction and rehabilitation across the state.
They noted that Isiala Ngwa communities have benefited from the Light Up Abia Project, including the provision of transformers, and assured that road projects will reach all parts of the state before the end of Governor Otti’s tenure.
In their separate remarks, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Nwaeze Oti; Senior Special Adviser on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnership, Dr. J. N. Greene-Amakwe; Special Adviser on Cooperatives, Hon. Ishmael Onuoha; and Special Adviser on Lands and Housing, Pastor Okorougo Aji, commended Governor Otti for driving massive development across the state.
They urged residents of Isiala Ngwa to sustain their support and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a vote of thanks, the Ward 3 Chairman of the Labour Party in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Mr. John Nduaguibe, thanked Pastor Ajagba for convening the meeting and reaffirmed the community’s unwavering support for the Otti-led administration.
The meeting was attended by political leaders, community stakeholders and Labour Party supporters from Ward 3, Isiala Nsulu, who praised Governor Otti and Pastor Ajagba for what they described as people-centred and purposeful governance.
