Rights Group Raises Alarm Over Rising Robberies in Ogun State

A civil rights organisation has expressed serious concern over the growing wave of robberies and criminal activities across several communities in Ogun State, warning that residents are increasingly living in fear.

The group said criminal elements now operate freely in many areas, attacking homes and businesses with little resistance. It criticised security agencies and government authorities for what it described as weak and ineffective responses to the worsening security situation.

According to the organisation, reports of violent robberies have risen sharply in recent months, leaving many residents traumatised and uncertain about their safety. The situation, it noted, has disrupted daily life and economic activities in affected communities.

The rights group warned that continued inaction could further embolden criminals and deepen insecurity in the state. It urged the Ogun State Government and law enforcement agencies to urgently strengthen patrols, improve intelligence gathering, and work closely with local communities to restore public confidence and safety.
